
Alfonso Cuarón Is Heading to South Korea for the Very First Time

Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuarón is visiting South Korea for the first time to attend the 31st Busan International Film Festival.

Alfonso Cuarón was born in Mexico City and studied filmmaking and philosophy at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He began his directing career in Mexican television before making his feature debut with the 1991 comedy 'Sólo con tu pareja'. His international breakthrough arrived with the critically acclaimed road trip drama 'Y tu mamá también' in 2001, which established him as a key figure of the contemporary Mexican cinema renaissance alongside Guillermo del Toro and Alejandro González Iñárritu.
Over the following decades, Cuarón directed a wide range of major studio productions and auteur projects, including 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', 'Children of Men', 'Gravity', and the autobiographical masterpiece 'Roma'. He has won multiple Academy Awards across directing, editing, and cinematography. He continues to write, direct, and produce across film and prestige television.
