Bruce Campbell was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, and developed an interest in filmmaking during his youth alongside childhood friends Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. He achieved widespread recognition and cult status starring as protagonist Ash Williams in Raimi's low-budget horror hit The Evil Dead (1981), later reprising the character in Evil Dead II (1987) and Army of Darkness (1992).

Beyond the horror genre, Campbell built a versatile career across film and television. He headlined the cult western series The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., enjoyed a seven-season run co-starring on USA Network's Burn Notice, and authored several bestselling books, including his popular 2001 memoir If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor.
