Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer, is a British peer, author, and former broadcast journalist. Born into the aristocratic Spencer family, he was educated at Eton College and Magdalen College, Oxford. He began his media career working as a correspondent for NBC News in the late 1980s and succeeded to the earldom and the Althorp estate in Northamptonshire following the death of his father in 1992. He gained worldwide attention in 1997 when he delivered the eulogy at the funeral of his sister, Diana, Princess of Wales.
In the decades since, Spencer has focused on managing the Althorp estate and writing extensively on British history. His publications include several bestselling non-fiction works exploring royal lineage, maritime disasters, and personal memoirs.
