Jean-Michel Jarre is a French composer and producer widely recognized as a foundational figure in electronic, synth-pop, and ambient music. Raised in Lyon, France, he studied classical music and later joined the Groupe de Recherches Musicales under Pierre Schaeffer. He gained worldwide fame in 1976 with his breakthrough album 'Oxygène', which sold millions of copies and helped define the modern electronic genre.
Throughout his multi-decade career, Jarre became famed for pioneering massive outdoor concerts integrating laser displays, architectural projections, and fireworks. He has set multiple world records for concert attendance and continues to produce innovative audio projects, experimental virtual reality performances, and advocacy work on intellectual property rights for creators.
