Pick up a fiddle, add four-part harmonies, and you get Martie Maguire. She started The Chicks back in Dallas with her sister Emily, busking on street corners before conquering country radio. When things blew up in 2003 after Natalie Maines spoke her mind about George W. Bush, Martie stood right by her side. Radio stations burned their CDs, but they refused to apologize and swept the Grammys anyway.

She's not just the quiet musical spine of the band. When The Chicks took a breather, she and Emily launched Courtyard Hounds just to keep playing. By the time they dropped 'Dixie' from their name in 2020, Martie proved she's still ready to make noise, sell out arenas, and out-play every fiddle picker in town.
