Norah O'Donnell is an American television journalist who has anchored the CBS Evening News and reported as a contributing correspondent for 60 Minutes. Born in Washington, D.C., she grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and graduated from Georgetown University. She began her career in print journalism at Roll Call before spending more than a decade covering national politics and the White House for NBC News and MSNBC.
In 2011, O'Donnell joined CBS News as Chief White House Correspondent and later became a co-host of CBS This Morning in 2012. She took over as anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News in 2019, steering the broadcast through major political and global news events before stepping down from the anchor chair in 2025 to transition into an expanded senior correspondent role.
